Iris is a macOS app that gets your photos and videos ready before they go into your library: it fixes capture dates and locations, adds titles, descriptions, and keywords, renames files in bulk with sequential numbering, and finds duplicates. It isn’t a storage service and doesn’t replace your backups.
RAW files (such as NEF, CR2, and ARW) can be read but not edited — Iris explicitly blocks saving them. We can’t guarantee that every format, codec, or unusual file will be read or saved correctly. The two parts of a Live Photo are linked by an internal identifier, which Iris reads but never changes.
When you get a date from a file name, shift dates, or set the same date on many files, the result is what you asked for — not a verified record of when the photo was actually taken. The same goes for coordinates you pick on the map or enter by hand. Iris flags dates that look wrong (such as the year 0021) as suspicious, but the final call is yours. Don’t rely on metadata as evidence.
The map and place search are provided by Apple (Apple Maps) and are subject to Apple’s terms and policies. We don’t guarantee that they’re accurate, available, or complete. See also section 6 of the Privacy Policy.
Iris works on files stored on your Mac. If a folder is synced with a cloud service (such as pCloud, iCloud Drive, or Dropbox), any changes Iris makes will sync according to that service’s own terms and behavior, which we aren’t responsible for.
We don’t keep copies of your files and can’t recover anything that’s lost or changed. Make sure you have working backups that don’t depend on this app.

The app’s code, design, graphics, and text belong to Christos Dimakis. Your photos and videos remain entirely yours, and we acquire no rights to them.
Iris is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don’t guarantee that it will run without interruption or errors, or that it will be compatible with every future version of macOS.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we aren’t liable for any indirect or consequential damages, or for the loss or alteration of photos, videos, or metadata resulting from the use of the metadata-editing or renaming features, a power failure or unexpected quit while a file is being saved, or syncing with a cloud service.
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under consumer protection law or excludes liability for willful misconduct or gross negligence.
These terms are governed by the laws of Greece. As a consumer, you retain the right to bring proceedings in the courts where you live.
Opening files and reading their metadata are free. The editing, renaming, duplicate-check, extension and undo-history features are free for a 14-day trial and then unlock with a one-time purchase for the current major version of Iris (for example “Iris 2”). A later major version may be offered as a separate purchase or at an upgrade price; what you bought stays yours for the version you bought. Privacy Cleanup stays free. There are no subscriptions and nothing renews automatically.
Prices, payment, family sharing, refunds and promo codes are handled by the Mac App Store under Apple’s terms. You can restore a purchase on another Mac with the same Apple ID from the purchase screen.
Iris is distributed through the Mac App Store and is also subject to Apple’s Media Services Terms and Conditions. Apple isn’t responsible for the app and has no obligation to provide support for it.
