Iris has no server. You don’t create an account or give us your email address, and the app contains no analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs. We don’t track you across apps or websites. None of your photos, videos, or metadata ever passes through our systems, because we don’t have any.
Iris gets your photos and videos ready before they go into your library: it fixes capture dates and locations, adds titles, descriptions, and keywords, renames files in bulk, and finds duplicates. It uses built-in macOS frameworks (ImageIO and AVFoundation) and runs in Apple’s App Sandbox, which means it can only access the files and folders you choose or drag into it.
The following is stored locally and never sent anywhere:

Iris doesn’t ask for access to your Photos library, camera, contacts, or location. The locations you see come from the files themselves (GPS data) or from what you pick on the map, never from where you are. The only files and folders Iris can access are the ones you choose in the Open dialog or drag into the app. Iris is allowed to connect to the internet only to load these pages and the “Our Apps” list (section 6); the map works through a macOS system service.

That’s it. We never receive your files, their names, or their metadata, nor your name, email address, or any device identifier.
We don’t keep anything, because we don’t have anything. On your Mac, data stays for as long as you want it. The undo history keeps your last 50 batches and deletes older ones automatically, and it’s removed entirely when you delete the app. Neither affects your photos.
If you contact us through Settings → Contact, your email app opens with just the subject line filled in: the app’s name and version. Nothing else is attached — no file names, locations, or photos. We keep support emails only for as long as it takes to resolve your issue.
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, and port your data, and to object to its processing. Since we don’t hold any of your data, you exercise these rights directly on your Mac. For anything else, just email us. You also have the right to file a complaint with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (dpa.gr).
Iris isn’t directed at children under 13 and doesn’t knowingly collect data from them. In fact, since it collects no data at all, there’s nothing to collect.
If we make any significant changes, we’ll update the date at the top and mention it in the release notes. You can always find this policy in the app, under Settings.
